Spoiled Rotten

Since the reason of this blog is mostly to document Collin & I's life as newlywed's, I feel like this Valentine's Day is one to remember. Collin has completely spoiled me rotten!

First, I was joking with Collin and told him he needed to ask me to be his Valentine if we were going to have a date night. Of course I didn't think he would actually do anything; it's just fun to give him a hard time! :) This is what I came home to on a Friday after work.

Then, on the day before Valentine's Day,  he had chocolate covered strawberries delivered to my office!

You'd think he has done plenty already, right? He is always thinking up something! - I thought I'd be nice and decorate our kitchen table for dinner that night.

After work, I had some errands to run, so Collin picked up dinner from an Italian place close to our apartment. As I walked through the front door, I saw our entire apartment lit up from little tea-light candles and a dozen roses on the counter! It was the cutest thing!

He really out-did himself this year. I know there is a lot of negative hype around Valentine's Day, but I hope the romanticness and cheesiness never fades away. I pray that someday if we have a little girl, she finds a husband just like her daddy!

Our Honeymoon

We spent the next 5 days after we got married in the Dominican Republic! It was SO beautiful there, and the perfect way to de-stress/relax after all the craziness of wedding planning. It was also nice to take a whole week off of work and enjoy the beach with NO responsibilites!

We left Amarillo on Sunday evening to get back to Dallas, and at 3AM on Monday morning, our alarms went off and it was time to leave the country! We wanted to take the earliest flight available so that we could enjoy the beach as long as possible. I thought I would get extremely antsy on the 4 hour plane ride there, but luckily the plane had WIFI, so I was easily consumed in the iPad, and we were there before I knew it! We got off the plane and everyone was so helpful and led us right where we needed to be. Then we arrived at the hotel and that was a different story. We went up to the front desk, told them our name, and nothing. They had no records of our reservation. I even had to show them pictures of the wedding so they would believe we were on our honeymoon!! Being in a different country, without a reservation, was a little scary. Luckily, Collin had the confirmation number and all the information saved, so we showed them that and they apologized for their mess up and upgraded us... to a PRESIDENTIAL SUITE! This room was bigger than our apartment! It was definitely worth the stress of feeling abandoned in a different country.

The rest of the trip was amazing. We planned all kinds of activites like deep sea fishing, swimming with dolphins, massages, and a dinner by the beach. Everything was so much fun, except for the deep sea fishing. It was awful.

 Our bait

...and the biggest fish we caught.

Swimming with dolphins was by far my most favorite part!! We contemplated even doing it after how bad our deep sea fishing experience turned out, but I am so glad we did!

The rest of the trip was mainly spent relaxing by the pools, eating, and gambling! We had SUCH a good time and we were so lucky to be able to experience this amazing trip as a married couple!

 Poolside/Ocean View Dinner - sunburned!

Itty Bitty Steak and HUGE Lobster for dinner
(being from Texas, we are used to the opposite!)

The super handy "honeymoon survival" kit from my parents for the sunburns they just KNEW we would get!

Our trip was so perfect.
